Michael Jackson’s fans and other people. ARE YOU SAD ABOUT THIS?

Monday, June 30th, 2008
STRANGER in Calgary™ MJEST asked:

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson has given up title to his Neverland ranch, transferring the deed to a company he partly controls.

The singer filed a grant deed on the ranch Monday that makes the new owner an entity called the Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. LLC, Tom Pearson of the Santa Barbara County clerk-recorder’s office said Wednesday.

Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. is a joint venture between Jackson and an affiliate of Colony Capital LLC, according to a person with knowledge of the transaction who was not authorized to speak on the record and requested anonymity.

The person could not say what would become of the 2,500-acre property in the bucolic, oak-studded hills of Santa Barbara County’s wine country, 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

A call to an attorney for Jackson, L. Londell McMillan, was not immediately returned Wednesday.

Jackson had gone into default on the $24.5 million he owes on the property and had faced foreclosure before Colony Capital bailed him out earlier this year by purchasing his loan.

Pearson said the deed did not indicate who owns Sycamore.

A listing on the California secretary of state’s Web site says the company filed with the state in June. It does not identify its owners, but the company has the same Century City address as Colony Capital LLC.

Colony Capital is a Los Angeles-based real estate investment company run by billionaire Tom Barrack. It owns several properties in Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Hilton.

The property was called Sycamore Valley Ranch before Jackson bought it in 1988 and began turning it into a miniature amusement park with a zoo, Ferris wheel, roller coaster and other rides.

At the height of his popularity, the superstar invited thousands of children to play on the grounds.

He renamed the ranch after the mythical land of Peter Pan and set about creating the magical childhood experiences he said his career as a child star had denied him.

It’s like stepping into Oz, he once said of Neverland. Once you come in the gates, the outside world does not exist.

Jackson has struggled to pay his debts since his financial empire began to crumble following his arrest in 2003 on charges that he molested a 13-year-old boy at the ranch. He has not been seen in the Los Olivos area since a jury acquitted him of all charges, and recent aerial photos show the ranch falling into disrepair.

Whats a better career: Sales or being an elementary teacher?

Monday, June 30th, 2008
mantastic86 asked:

I was granted two offers yesterday: A teaching position for an elementary school K-8. And a career working for a big company selling advertisements for exotic cars like Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, and Bentleys. The sales package is 30k permanent base plus commission. Teaching is 36k a year plus pension and benefits. Sales is a always a grind. No sales job is fun. Must meet quotas and deadlines. Sell, sell, sell. Go to trade shows in Las Vegas. Some travel is required which I dont like. Constant deadlines. I could make 60k a year maybe more. But I dislike telephones and office cubicles. Teaching is more related to my interests. Summers off, writing, research, independence, instructing others—but the pay is low. However, I get a pension after 20 years. Working for govt. is good. Im a male(39 y.o.) So I will retire at 59 with pension. But dealing with occasional bratty kids, time constraints, and politics. I **** making career decisions. Whats your opinion?

Phantom Lover asked:

What do you guys think about Nevada being in a big time drought, we are losing a foot of water a day and now we have a freeze on new homes being developed which means slowing down the number of people moving to Nevada, this will definetly have a huge impact but if it gets worse what will happen, will business shut down? Real Estate go up? More or less jobs since theres more business and less room for people to move here? What do you think about this?

Can Senators McCain Obama reach an agreement with the President and Congress by tomorrow or this weekend?

Friday, June 20th, 2008
datediscrete asked:

Should these entities be put up for auction so that PRIVATE money (and not taxpayer money) can enter into the bidding, make it fairer, and lessen the burden for American taxpayers?

What will help these banks and mortgage companies loan again to those who can put 20% down? Getting those who made bad loans to lend again is critical; lubricating the lending facilities will, in turn, be critical in soaking up the high levels of real estate inventory in cities like Las Vegas.

Do you consider it rude of Sen. Obama to make unannounced visits ?

Saturday, June 14th, 2008
Rev. Cleophus asked:

October 13, 2008

The routine of a suburban Sunday — mowing the lawn, cleaning the house — was shattered in Holland, Ohio, when Barack Obama unexpectedly dropped by for nearly an hour to knock on doors.

At the second house he visited on Shrewsbury Street, Sue Sekel opened the door clad in blue sweat pants and a Las Vegas shirt.

After the healthcare worker and the Democratic presidential nominee chatted and snapped a cellphone photo together, Sekel, 43, said Sunday was the one day I come home to clean ceiling fans and look like crap, and then this happens.

I feel badly for the woman. Does not the gracious visitor phone ahead first? Proper manners do not appear to be given a high priority by Sen. Obama.

Bankruptcy/Real Estate? Long Question?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008
Ashley O asked:

A little background here.. I am trying to get myself out of a terrible financial situation. I was 22 when my husband and I bouught our first home (which is upside down) and started accumulating debt. I live in Las Vegas where the real estate market has plummeted. My husband and I are separated, and have about 45 thousand in debt bewteen the both of us. We keep tinkering back and forth between doing a bankruptcy or just paying our bills off.I have gotten setlements on 3 of my accounts, so that would bring me to $30000 in debt approximately, the also offered to do a loan modification, POSSIBLY approved after a six month forebearance on our home. Bringing our payment from $2500 a month to about $1200. But we wont know for 4 months if that is even approved and it could go either way. I am in the reserves and trying to go on a deployment for 7-9 months that would be about $38000 tax free before the end of the year. If I do a Chapter 7, I believe the majority, if not all, of that money is protected. I could save it, and use about 1/2 of that to buy an investiment home, but I won’t be able to buy one until after statue of limitations which is 2 years minimum?? If I don’t do a bankruptcy then I plan to pay off the settlement accounts first, while paying the others off consecutively (monthly) to reestablish history.after 6 months to 1 year of rebuilding my history then I want to buy an investment home. I am now 25, and I know now basic necessities to be secure. Such as 3-6 months emergency fund, as 0- minimum amount of debt as possible, and securities to help me survive or profit from the recession, my choice is real estate since I’ve studied it, I enjoy it, and I believe firmly I know how to make money in it. And I don’t know much about any other market, such as the stock market, orinvesting. Please help. We have been riding the fence for about 7 months, wasting time because our minds keep changing. We are separated but which ever way we decide to go with this we plan to help each other. I want to build my wealth, become secure, and have long term investments. I want to start up a business (home staging) within the next 3 years also.

Can we (Republicans) go out and do what Bill Clinton is suggesting in this quote from him?

Monday, June 2nd, 2008
Federalistcapers asked:

There is this whole business of the new politics. Well I got a taste of the new politics today. We need a new politics where we all love each other. You’ve heard all that. There’s a radio ad up in the northern part of Nevada telling Republicans that they ought to just register as Democrats for a day so they can beat Hillary and go out and be Republicans next week and vote in the primary. Doesn’t sound like the new politics to me.
Bill Clinton jan. 18th 2008, Las Vegas NV.
great idea Bill…i’m all over that plan…GO OBAMA!!! then ….GO THOMPSON/ROMNEY!!!!
driveranderson i’m going to do it…it will be strange to vote for a democrat, but what the heck, it’s only for the primary, i will let the chips fall where they may on the republican side..
